How soon after the cycle can you begin to take yasmin and will it lessen the flow of the cycle.?

I recently removed fibroid (2 years ago) and had to take the pills for at least 3 months after. Now I want to resume taking them to lessen the flow of of the cycle. Will the cycle still regulate whilst i take them? I am not ually active and i am concerned if there will be problems should i decide to have children.
