Please help me? Relationship drama?

OK so i really like this guy. I've known him since the start of last year (so 1 1/2 years) and we were sort of friends last year, but this year we are best friends and laugh at eachothers jokes and everything. So lately this other person came up to me in science to tell me that "(his name) asked me to tell you that he wants to go out with him" and for a second i was just stunned. And i had a flashback: one of my close friends said that she asked him if he liked me and he said no. So i told this other person that he was lying, and that (his name) didn't like me. He swore that he wasn't lying, and we kind of bickered like this for a while, but he took it wrong like i was baking out of it and said that he would tell (his name) that i said no. So i freaked out and im really worried that this guy will tell (his name) on the bus that i said no, but i really like him. The best i could do was ask my crush the last time he had spoken to this guy and he said today...WHAT DO I DO??? I really like him but he could've been rejected accidentally on the bus...please help?
