Do iguanas have to get shots? And also how do you know if they carry salmonella?

I just got a baby iguana a month ago. i heard a lot of their kind carry salmonelisis and i want to know if mine does. i ask my teachers at my Veterinary cl in my high school but they just blow me off. Help??? also, do iguanas need shots for anything???
